MEET THE TEAM.

Leonora, Founder

“With over a decade of experience in non-profits, I went into lockdown looking to start a new journey. The issue of Gender-Based Violence is something that I am hugely passionate about, and I wanted to be able to create a tool that would give a voice to people in need of help.”

– Leonora, Founder.

Shamryn, Communications Manager

“A dedicated Communications and Marketing Manager, thrilled to combine my passion for design, communications, and marketing with Kwanele’s vision of empowering women and individuals. When I delved into Kwanele’s mission and values, I became convinced that this organisation is committed to creating a safe space where individuals are heard and valued—making it a perfect fit for me.”

– Shamryn, Communications Manager.

Chulu, Community Engagement Manager

“I am deeply passionate about the work I do at Kwanele because it provides me with the opportunity to actively express my love for people.”

– Chulu, Community Engagement Manager.

Ronel, Business Development Manager

Having worked directly with survivors of sexual violence for the last 7 years, I was disillusioned with the ways the justice system treats survivors. I was also becoming increasingly terrified of the ways technology is being used to harm women and girls. Kwanele was one of the few voices in the sector who dared to take on these issues and leverage them for the benefit of survivors.

– Ronel, Business Development Manager.

Rachel, Research Associate

“A researcher who studies the relationship between technology and society. She is currently researching the potential consequences and ethical challenges associated with the use of A.I. in gender-based violence.”

– Rachel, Research Associate.

KWANELE’S MISSION.

We are Kwanele. To enable access to justice for those experiencing violence through innovative technology, data-informed reporting, and capacity-building.

Our vision is to build a world where everyone feels safe.
