WE ARE KWANELE, AND WE’RE HERE.

WHO ARE WE?

We are what makes Kwanele work. This platform was built to make a difference in the lives of gender-based violence (GBV) survivors. Our team is full of friendly, open-minded, and driven people who strongly believe in advocating for the human rights of all those who feel like theirs have been stripped away.

MEET THE TEAM.

Leonora, Founder

“With over a decade of experience in non-profits, I went into lockdown looking to start a new journey. The issue of Gender-Based Violence is something that I am hugely passionate about, and I wanted to be able to create a tool that would give a voice to people in need of help.”

– Leonora, Founder.

Ronel, Business Development Manager

Having worked directly with survivors of sexual violence for the last 7 years, I was disillusioned with the ways the justice system treats survivors. I was also becoming increasingly terrified of the ways technology is being used to harm women and girls. Kwanele was one of the few voices in the sector who dared to take on these issues and leverage them for the benefit of survivors.

– Ronel, Business Development Manager.

Chulu, Community Engagement Manager

“I am deeply passionate about the work I do at Kwanele because it provides me with the opportunity to actively express my love for people.”

– Chulu, Community Engagement Manager.

Onele, Field Worker

“Gender-based violence is one of the biggest pandemics in the world right now, so I wanted to be part of the movement to help the survivor’s that have been affected by it. The Kwanele app is amazing, and I’ve used it myself in multiple cases. I feel comfortable being an activist and helping others as this doesn’t feel like a job for me, but a home where I am safe and appreciated.”

– Onele, Field Worker.

Sethu, Field Worker

“I know that my efforts are making a difference in the lives of GBV victims. I’m helping to raise awareness about this crisis and ensure that victims have access to the justice they deserve. I feel fulfilled knowing that my work is helping to create a more just and equitable world.”

– Sethu, Field Worker.

Rachel, Research Associate

“A researcher who studies the relationship between technology and society. She is currently researching the potential consequences and ethical challenges associated with the use of A.I. in gender-based violence.”

– Rachel, Research Associate.
